BJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Princesses

Clad in forest green, captained by Jeffrey Benson and Katie Kerbaugh and debuting in their first season, BJ Jazzy is a fun-loving team brought together by one mutual trait, “We all like to drink! It was a natural fit!” Where did the team name come from? Yes, a play on DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, but it is also a combination of team members BJ, team member Jazzy, and the rest of the team who are “are princesses. Including the males!” I like the visual of a bunch of princesses running around on the court, having balls hurled at them and dodging, all without losing those pretty little tiaras…
Both good natured and competitive, when they’re out on the court, they mean business. Example: team member Allison is the last remaining player on the court; on the opposite team, her boyfriend Fidel and his sister. Allison catches her boyfriend out and then takes his sister out; pretty hard core! Another highlight from the team is Sarah Felt making her first Scotty shot ever. (I’m still waiting for mine…) It’s the highlights that keep the game so much fun!
Uncertain as to how they will do in the tournament, (who isn’t?), and at 2-1-1 going into Game 5, it’s really anyone’s guess. But when your drive and motivation for dodgeball derives from a group of Princesses (their girls) like these (have you seen the girls play?) they’ll at least be a team to keep an eye on. And if a team of princesses and a guy named BJ isn’t enough to entice you, maybe the hard core, no-hold- barred-boyfriends-going-down mentality is!
