Tuesday Team of the Week, The Finale!

So this is it, last call for the team of the week polls for summer 2010. There will be more polls coming in Fall, but for now the only team of the week following the winners of this poll, will be whoever wins the tournament.

This poll is obviously a little different than most. The teams listed are the teams that were in previous polls this season, but finished in second place. In some cases, the margin of loss was so slight, and the total votes accrued was so high, that the team could, and maybe even should have won the poll. So they get one more shot!

This will be the final poll of the season. The winning team will receive their tab on the week of August 9.

Voting ends Wednesday at 5pm!

Good luck to everyone, and thanks for your participation this season!

Pinching

Just wanted to clarify a call that was made on Monday. I got some flak for calling it wrong, but after going back and reading the rules I just wanted to point out that I did in fact make the right call, and here’s why.
“3.1.6 Pinching. “Pinching” is the act of squeezing in order to alter the flight of the ball when thrown or to gain a better
grip on the ball. While holding a ball, players’ fingers must remain extended so as to “palm” the ball. See illustrations
below. A player will be called out for pinching, whether or not the player has thrown the ball, while players hit out by a
pinched ball will not be declared out. A pinched ball that is caught will still count as a caught ball.”

And please refer to the rules here and scroll down to see the pictures of pinched balls. The right one demonstrates what I had seen and why I called it the way I did.
