Hey its Wisher! Outside of rocking Recesstime Sports I work for Hosford Middle School as a Instructional Tech. I see first hand that our youth are losing out on a quality education. This year we must cut staff, our teachers must inch up to bigger class sizes and receive less support due to loss of funding. Research shows students perform better with smaller class sizes (And good teachers). Hosford MS is part of Portland Public Schools, a tax-paid education service, which is managed by government. It pains me to watch education fall behind our priorities as a country. We play dodgeball where Portland’s youth learn. We play in spirit of our past time as youth with the amenities of adulthood. These children could lose organized dodgeball with the loss of physical education courses. We must not let that happen!

Below is a message from the group UPSET. They need our support to tell legislators what is important to us.

“Come to Buckman Elementary to talk with your Oregon legislators about long-term school funding solutions. Let’s have a huge turn out (we’ll move it to the gym if we have to). Join us in a conversation with:

    Jules Koppel-Bailey - Oregon House #42
Diane Rosenbaum - Oregon Senate #21

Buckman Elementary School Library - 320 SE 16th Avenue, 97214
Wednesday, May 30 -  6:30 - 7:30pm

These kind of meetings make a difference in legislation, let’s let our representatives know how concerned we are about our schools and how we will no longer except cuts. We need a solution from Salem in the next session.

Thank you for continuing to be UPSET!

In space, no one can hear you pinch.
